What Does It Mean When A Dog’s Nose Is Dry?

  • Sun exposure – similar to a sunburn, your dog’s nose can get dry after being in the sun for a while.
  • Dried out during the Winter – your dog’s nose might be chapped from the Winter weather.
  • Heat – Your dog may have been playing or be a bit hot. Once they cool down and drink some water, it will moisten back up.
  • Aging – older dogs have drier noses.
  • They were napping – your dog’s nose might be dry right after they wake up from a snooze.
  • Allergies – certain allergies can dry your pup’s nose out.
  • Dehydration.
  • Disease or illness. It’s also a common symptom of autoimmune diseases in dogs.

Remember that a dry nose itself is not typically a cause for concern. It fluctuates throughout the day, depending on your dog’s activity, and some breeds are even known for having drier noses than others.

How Can I Moisten My Dog’s Dry Nose?

My Dog’s Nose Is Dry – What Do I Do?

  • Red or flaky skin
